I’m Vishal Bhargava. I build and run systems that have to work in the real world — not just in clean diagrams.
Most of my career has been platform and infrastructure work: delivery pipelines, internal tooling, and the foundations other engineers depend on. I tend to care about reliability, debugging, and cost more than novelty.
Recently I’ve been applying that same platform mindset to AI and LLM-based systems. Not from a research angle, but from an operational one: how these systems are built, deployed, observed, paid for, and kept sane once they hit production. I’m interested in where they work well, where they fall apart, and what “responsible in production” actually means.
What I’m focused on right now #
- LLM Lab: a small end-to-end RAG service (API + infra + dashboards), iterating from v1 → v2
- Retrieval quality: chunking, hybrid search, and eval-driven development
- Ops discipline: structured logging, metrics, cost knobs, and failure modes you actually see in production
Quick facts #
- Platform/infra engineer with ~12 years building and running cloud systems (AWS/Kubernetes/Terraform)
- Tech Lead Manager, Platform @ Kittl
- Berlin → Dubai (2026)
Outside of work, I care a lot about food. I cook often, experiment a lot, and probably overthink simple dishes more than necessary. It’s one of the few places where I genuinely enjoy slowing down and paying attention to small details.
This site is where I write things down — about work, projects, and change — when they’re worth thinking through properly.
